How porcupines are like opossums
Did any of you ever see the cartoon where porcupines are getting killed left and right trying to cross the road? One of them finally gets the bright idea to dress like a human and go to the Clerk’s office where he petitions to get a porcupine crossing installed to keep his brethren from being run over. Well that is at least how I remember it all these years later.
I never understood the cartoon, probably because you don’t see porcupines dead on the side of the road in the South (at least I never have). What I did see in abundance were opossums dead on the side of the road. For me that cartoon would have made a lot more sense if opossums had been substituted for porcupines, that is until now. I have been seeing a lot of dead porcupines on the side road while riding my bike (up here in New York), and it all became clear.
And that is why porcupines are like opossums.
Either way I hate to see them lying there, life cut short because they didn’t look both ways before crossing the street.

I DO remeber that cartoon. I cant remember where its from or what it was called though. Hrmm…
Possums still rock. Turtles sound like popcorn.
I also remember the cartoon. It was on a CBS Storybreak cartoon….Here is another site that is searching for the same thing. It seems they believe the title of the episode was “Hugh Pine” which does ring a bell.
Sorry, I forgot to add the link. Here it is.
