Pining
My great aunt Molly died a couple of weeks ago, and ever since I found out I’ve had a strong desire to go home. I would have gone down when it happened only there wasn’t a service (at her request). The thing that is most holding me back is that it is hard to work from there, and I don’t want to use vacation time for the trip (I know, how selfish of me). I guess the real issue is that Ali and I already have a vacation planned for the end of January to go to Sunday River in Maine, and I didn’t think it would go over too well if I tried to take another week near an already planned vacation.
I am looking forward to the Sunday River trip; the skiing has been pretty weak around here. We have an exceptionally mild winter, and there is currently no snow on the ground (in January!). The mild winter is a good and a bad thing of course, since we are still in the process of getting our heating re-done.
Anyway, this was mostly a post to say I’m pining for home and family, and that I hope to get there soon.

Sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope it works out that you can go home soon. If you come down this way, you might be able to work here now. My neighbor purchased a new router and hacked it to make it more powerful. I’m sitting at that spot in the kitchen where you worked and picking it up really well. Sunday River looks nice. It’s funny to look at the weather forecast compared to here (70 degrees today!). I heard some people in class yesterday who went to Vermont to ski over the holidays and said it wasn’t so great. Apparently they’ve missed out on the big snows to this year. Oh, and (with appologies to Dave) I got a drum machine. It just came yesterday. Sounds pretty decent. You can also manipulate the sounds to make your own. Haven’t had much time to play with it yet.
