Jesus was Jewish
I must say I am under-whelmed with the responses to the Jesus question. Thanks David, for being the one person who answered it. I was hoping with the large percentage of this blog’s readership being Catholic, that it would have drawn more responses.
I had only put the question out there because I was reading somewhere how the resurrection is the whole foundation for Christianity and if it were disproved that particular religious movement would cease to be. I did find it interesting that even though it is a central tenant, that believers do not agree upon whether it was a physical actual (videotapable event) or something less tangible.
I was not aware of this, and was curious how important y’all believed the event to be to your faith. Anyway, so much for the interesting discussion.
Rain, rain go away
I like rain; I especially like those ferocious thunder storms that Alabama has in spring and summer. However, I am really started to get annoyed with rain. It seems like it has been raining non-stop since May here. I wouldn’t mind a few times a week even; the main problem is that it is really cutting into my ability to get any sort of consistent riding in on the bicycle. Chalk this up to Murphy, but the three day I was in Evansville last week, it was nice and sunny here in New York. This week has been nothing but rain again, and that is all that is in the forecast too. On top of that the temperature is having trouble making it into the sixties (burrrrgh) — I don’t think I need … Read More »
Lyle Lovett
Ali and I went to see Lyle Lovett this weekend. He played the Belleayre music festival. He is kind of a big act for them (I think). The setup isn’t the greatest, they have a tent and sell seats under it, and there are general admission lawn seats. However the setup only allows people of the lawn to see the legs of the performers. In spite of that we still had a good time.
I still can’t believe how cold it gets at night. We wore long pants, tee shirt, flannel, fleece jackets, gloves, and used a blanket — with all of that I still wasn’t warm, but I was comfortable. It is the middle of July people; you should be able to go out in a tee-shirt and shorts.
I keep forgetting to post … Read More »
A Hoax
I’m curious, if you learned tomorrow that the Jesus resurrection story was a hoax, how would that impact your religious beliefs?
Alabama et. al.
Ali and I started our vacation last Friday. We flew into Atlanta and spent the night with Gabe. It was nice to see them again — For the last couple of years I have been going to Atlanta for Super Comm and staying with them. This year Super Comm was being held and Chicago so I didn’t think I would see them this year. I’m glad it worked out that we got to see them after all; even if it was only for a short while. The next morning we met Jeromy and Mandy at Six Flags and had a lot of fun doing all the things you do at a place like that. We went to Matas for lunch on Monday, and then up to Cheeha to fly kites.
On Tuesday I drove my … Read More »
