Fear & Loathing in Alabama

It’s not that I fear or loathe anything in Alabam, it is just that the picture reminded me of The Great Gonzo. Now I don’t mean to tread on the memory of Hunter Thompson, it’s just that the “granny” glasses reminded me of the poster for the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

We had a great time in Alabama visiting everyone! Enjoy the pictures.

Okemo

A, o, oh way to go Okemo, or was it Ohio? Which ever it is Okemo certainly wasn’t gone! (If you don’t get the reference, let me just say, Pretenders.) Its peak rises a moderate 3,344 feet into that great expanse called the sky.

The mountain itself wasn’t the best I’ve ever been on. It was more like a local mountain that you ski at because it’s close, not because you drove four hours to ski at it. In truth, it wasn’t really that bad, but Ali and I were coming off of our trip to Sunday River and I was just looking forward to being challenged again. Heat the freak

This is the fourth and final installment on recent house projects.

The heating system install finally finished in January. When the guys ripped out the old system they discovered a crack in the furnace (can you say carbon monoxide leak), this meant it not only needed to be replaced, it had to be replaced. Now with the old furnace gone, there is a tremendous amount of space in the basement. Harry and I will need to fill in the concrete were the furnace and water heater were. We’ll probably do that this spring.

In a previous post I complained about the boiler going out just before we went on vacation. This was due to a design flaw (or poor manufacture’s recommendations), either way Agway came out this week and we discuss possible remedies for the problem. … Read More »
